A Pig Roast (or pig pickin' as it was originally called) is a classic example of Pit BBQ, a cooking process made famous in the American South, especially in the Carolinas (North and South, that is). It is the ultimate communal cooking event! Different than grilling or smoking (we do those too!), our Pit BBQ is a very low heat process that takes hours (usually all night) to cook a whole hog.
When the cooking is done, the results are unlike anything else you have ever tasted! The meat literally falls off the bone, is incredibly moist and tender with a "smokey goodness" that can only be delivered by the perfect combination of all natural charcoal and native Carolina hard woods (Rhode Island, that is). The meat is then either chopped into traditional Carolina-style pork barbecue or, in some cases, is picked off the hog itself by the guests, which gives the gathering its orignal name.
Historically most pig roasts were gatherings of family and friends as the summer weather faded into fall, but with our mobile, custom-made pits, we can set up at your site for a downhome feast guaranteed to satisfy that craving for Old Fashion BBQ anytime of the year.

Over the Hill Farm employs a minimum event pricing. The current minimum charge for any event is $ 1000.
Our team competes on the national BBQ circuit. To avoid potential scheduling conflicts, advanced booking of events is recommended
A non-refundable 25% deposit is required to book and confirm an event date
Full payment is required on the date of the event
Our team is much more than professional BBQ experts, and our events are as much about the show as they are about the food. Let us entertain you! and please remember that gratutity is not included in the event pricing. If you enjoy the show, the food and the service, your tips are greatly appreciated.
